What is a ductless split air conditioner?

A

It is an air conditioner or a heat pump system without any sort of ductwork attached to it. It is not a new type of system. They have been around for 20 years or more, but have become a lot more efficient and useful thanks to newer technology out there. With their start years ago, they were used in a one-room design to either heat or cool a sunroom or three- or four-season room. But with compressor technology today, they can do up to 4 rooms with one outdoor unit, and heat them very efficiently, even in the coldest climates. They are very quiet and use remote controls for thermostats, and can make every room in the house different temperatures for an individual's liking. The outdoor unit is very thin and can set close to the home and also is very quiet. They use the "Ozone Friendly" R410-A refrigerant and have longer line set usages if needed, which is better than what a conventional system offers. Also, we said ductless system, but they also offer a ducted type now that can be located in crawl spaces, basements and attics, working like a conventional system, but more efficient. Warranties are very good also. There are several manufacturers out there, so if interested in the product, just Google ductless mini-splits and you will see what I mean.
